60 players participated in the inaugural Valentines Day Cup event at Horizons with a unique format.
All players met at 7.30am for the draw, where a ladies team was drawn from a hat, followed by a men’s team who would be their opponents for the match, followed by a third draw which was for which tee from which they would start.
The shotgun start took place at 8am with 15 matches. The format was a 4BBB Stableford and the winners were determined by their 18 hole score rather than hole by hole.
The end result was a win for the men, eight matches to seven in a closely fought contest and they have bragging rights for the coming year, and their name on the annual trophy.
Golf was followed by a beautiful lunch in the Clubhouse attended by approximately 80 people, including non golfing spouses and friends. During lunch, presentations were made for the winners on the day and all players voted the day an outstanding success and planning for next year has already begun!
